Project Description

Located in the heart of Toronto – North York, this 4,000 sq. ft. residence is conceived as an exploration of light, volume, and spatial continuity within a compact urban context. The design is centered around three independent skylight shafts, each carefully positioned to draw natural light deep into the core of the house and across both levels through open-to-below voids.

These vertical light wells not only introduce a dynamic daylight condition but also serve as key spatial organizers, visually connecting the main living spaces with the private upper floor. The structural system is integrated seamlessly with the skylight framework, allowing for unobstructed ceiling planes and clear sightlines throughout.

Material selection emphasizes authenticity and tactile refinement — combining natural stone, warm wood finishes, and precision metal detailing. The resulting composition achieves a subtle balance between mass and transparency, solid and void.

Every architectural element — from the linear stair to the perimeter glazing — contributes to a cohesive narrative of light and movement. The overall design evokes a sense of modern elegance, authenticity, and vibrant energy, transforming natural light into an essential architectural material.
